Control of an Extensible Query Optimizer: A Planning-Based Approach

Summary: Introduces a planning-based controller for an extensible query optimizer, interleaving planning with the execution of query transformations. In the Epoq framework, a goal-directed planner uses runtime results to steer subsequent rewrites through the extensible control mechanism, enabling modular, planning-guided optimization.
