NV-SQL: Boosting OLTP Performance with Non-Volatile DIMMs

Summary: NV-SQL: an NVDIMM-backed DB architecture that uses NVDIMMs as a durable write cache and co-locates redo buffer/DWB to absorb DRAM→SSD writes and eliminate log-force-at-commit/WAL overheads. Novel re-update-interval (LSN-only hotness) plus per-page in-update flags and redo-based rectification extend ARIES-style logging/recovery to detect/repair NVDIMM inconsistencies; prototype shows several× throughput vs same-priced MySQL.
