C5: Cloned Concurrency Control that Always Keeps Up

Summary: C5 is the first cloned concurrency control protocol for asynchronously replicated primary-backup DBs that guarantees bounded replication lag. It closes the parallelism gap of prior cloned CCs, preserving primary concurrency; MyRocks and Cicada demonstrate bounded lag. (summarized by gpt-5-nano on Feb 09 2026)
