Epoch-based Commit and Replication in Distributed OLTP Databases

Summary: COCO makes epochs—not individual transactions—the atomic commit and synchronous-replication unit, reducing distributed OLTP’s 2PC overhead. Epoch execution enables physical- or logical-time OCC, delivering up to 4× higher YCSB/TPC-C throughput. (summarized by gpt-5.6-luna on Jul 24 2026)
